CMP 1911 Sale

Anyone here submit paperwork for purchase of USGI surplus 1911's? I did and am approximately number 5400 on the list to purchase a service or field grade. Should have the opportunity with the next 30 days.

Yea I did, but I got an email from them saying my number was not chosen.

This email is to notify you that your order has been received and you have been assigned a number through the random number generating process. You will find your number listed below. At this time, we do not have enough 1911 type pistols to complete your order. Should the Army send us another shipment of sufficient quantity, we will use those 1911 type pistols to fill the next orders in line. Please do not contact us or reply to this email at this time.

I wonder when/If they will get more.

They are supposed to get another batch this year. No word yet as to when. Probably won't know until this year's allotment is gone and all the followup CMP paperwork is submitted to DoD.

Update, finally.

Received my 1911 A1 (service grade) in May. It is a Remington Rand frame and Remington Rand slide built in late 1944. Rebuilt in 1976 and I don't think it has been touched since. Not a scratch on the finish. Very pleased. Came with a padded Pelican case.

CMP currently has 5 on auction for two more days. Bids range from about $1500 to $4000. A bagged Colt National Match is included. Auction can be found on their site, sub site guns on auction, sub-sub site memorabilia. The auction prices make me think I got a bargin.

I understand there are about 80,000 currently in inventory which if all goes well will be released.

What did you pay for your 1911?

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!
