opinions on a trade

years ago i owned a 700 classic chambered in 35 whelen. really liked it. sold it to my brother under the condition i would buy it back if he sold it. well ,he sold it for a profit. anyhow i found one on gunbroker that has a almost mint bore with some small marks on the stock. has a nikon scope.anyhow the cash price is 850. i have a colt trooper 357 that he offered 750 on a trade in. what do you guys think ?

It kinda depends on what Nikon scope is on the rifle. I may or may not do it depending on which scope it is. Plus you can always counter offer of trading the rifle and $50 instead of $100. If the guy isn't willing to budge a little then neither would I.

IMO tell your brother that whatever profit he got he should reimburse you to replace the rifle he was suppose to sell you back.

i would have joe but he passed away a couple years ago. i was still very upset about it. should have never sold it. the kicker was the gun with a leupold for 300 bucks because of his financial situation.

Have you seen the prices of 35 Whelens lately? Because of midwestern states changing from shotgun only to ".35 caliber and larger" and southern states changing from muzzleloader season to "primitive weapons season" and allowing 35 caliber and larger centerfires, 35 Whelen prices are through the roof. Get that Whelen while the getting is good.

I should add last summer I decided I wanted a Whelen. I could not afford one so I bought a 30-06 and paid a 'Smith to have it rebored to 35 Whelen and I still saved several hundred!

they dont make colts anymore. that handgun might be worth more. but...if you have no use for it and really want the 35, go for it.

i had a colt diamondback 4 inch 38 that i sold to a co-worker years ago for around 350.00. they are selling for 1400.00 to 2 grand now.
