That's a sub-two inch group at 125 yards after the fouling shot. It doesn't need to shoot any better than that to harvest a deer. Best of luck to the OP on that buck!!!

I hate slug guns. Too much recoil and too little range. I'm alright with that much recoil as long as it's helping me make kills at long range as in the case of one of the 300 magnums.

Depends a lot on where you hunt. In 40 years of hunting I've only shot two deer that I figured were over a hundred yards or a little more. And oddly enough one was in New Hampshire and I did it with a 12ga. 870. Where I hunt most shots are well under 100 yards. Shot a doe with my flintlock yesterday that was maybe 42 yards away. That's about normal. I think its been quite a while since I have even had a shot 70 yards away. The recoil problem with foster type slugs is that the ammo company's think it takes 3 in. mag and an oz. of lead or more to kill a whitetail. It doesn't. 2 3/4 inch 7/8 oz slugs would do the job fine and the recoil while still heavy is manageable to most adults. It would still be hard on a young kid or a small women.

That group looks fine to me gfedor.

I go 100 yards and even further with a lot less recoil. I.e, 30-30 Winchester.

Yep. It's not always a matter of what you want to hunt with.
