any suggestions...looking for gun for wife

The gun I am looking for: youth model, wood stock, chambered in either .243 or 7mm.08

my wife has a small build and doesnt weigh more than a bag of feathers so im trying to get something that is suited for youths pretty much but the hard part is that she doesnt want anything with a synthetic stock... any ideas ???

what about a remington mohawk, you can always have the stock shortened. or look at a savage 99 and shorten the wood, these would be older not new guns

Re: any suggestions...looking for gun for wife

I was able to get my girlfriend hunting deer several years ago. Now she can't wait to get in the woods. And she does very well also. She brings home a bunch of deer meat.

I will tell you what I did for her.

I bought a TC Contender Carbine in 30 Carbine cartridge. And i load the 130 grain single shot pistol bullet for her. This rifle will shoot very accurate to 100 yards. And the rifle has basically no recoil, and is extremely light to carry.

This rifle is now her rifle. And it is best for me to just leave it alone. The only time I am allowed to touch it is when I am checking the reloads for her. This rifle works perfectly for woods hunting. Not really a big field gun. But she has no desire to hunt in the fields. She enjoys being, and hunting in the woods. And this cartridge is about perfect for that.

However I would also consider one of the Ruger 77's in 44 Magum for your wife. And I hear they are brining it out in 357 Magnum this year. That would also be a fantastic light rifle if you want a repeater.

Revolver cartridges are a totally different breed when shot in a rifle length barrel. Tom.

i have a rem mod 7 youth in 260 with a bushenll 3-9 scope and recoil pad all sighted in and ready to go that i will sell for $500. it has the hardwood stock and has a few hunting marks but otherwise in really nice shape. my daughter used it when she was 12-13 and it was ideal for her.
