years ago, back in the mid 70's when i was about 14 or 15 i was deer hunting in the Rays Cove area near Breezewood PA. in those days i walked almost constantly due to boredom and one day i was walking along the bottom of the ridge when i came upon a guy who was obviously not from around those parts. he was dressed in fancy hunting clothes and if i remember right he had on some kind of weird hat. but the most memorable thing about him was his gun. i was, even in those days, a gun nut and knew a lot about them. more than most adults. i had never seen one like his though. when i asked him about it, he told me it was a model 600 in 350 magnum and he let me check it out. he was standing behind a slab pile overlooking a big gully and he had the gun set up on a bipod on the slab pile. I wandered back past him a few hours later and he had a doe laying there with a sizeable hole in it. i never forgot that gun and always wanted one. when i started looking for one i found them to be out of my price range. a few years back i finally found one in a little army & navy store near me for a decent price. it was really cruddy and full of spider webs but when i cleaned it up i found it was in excellent condition. heres a pic. these guns are a love-hate thing. i personally love it.
