feedback on a few guns...im getting a new one

im looking to get a new rifle here pretty quickly. im looking at a Marlin 1895G or 1895GBL in 45-70, i know Marlins are great because thats all ive ever shot. but im looking at 2 models of bolt actions too....since ive never owned a bolt gun, id like some feedback on some guns im finding awesome deals on...any thought on the Remington 700 or Savage 111 in 30-06?

i have found a few of each model online at GREAT prices.

***the bolt guns im looking at are all open sights (my preference and whats practiacal for where i hunt). One of the 700s comes with a scope but its only in my options because it also has open sights

Either one would be great in the '06! Buy good optics and only cry once though... Jmo

Much to the dismay of the hardcore Remchester fanatics the Savage is the the most accurate out-of-the box rifle out there.

i would also look at the tikka T3. i have an old rem 700 in 3006, circa 1972, and it shoots less than 1" groups. i also have a tikka T3 about 5 yrs old and it also shoots less than 1"groups. i've heard good and bad about the new 700's, more good. i've also heard good and bad about the savage again more good.

All good guns, cannot make a bad choice there. Savage bolt guns took a back seat in the market years ago, not so today. Remington has continually cheapened there basic 700's, Savage has some brilliant marketing people who took that and ran with it. The Savage will never be the prettiest girl at the dance, but if I was on a lower budget for a great rifle, I would buy the Savage today.

Again both are good guns. I have purchased three new Savages and one 700 over the last two and half years and have been very happy with all of them. You should get what feels the best to you. What stock feels the best in your hands? The better fitting stock will give you more speed in getting on target and with better accuracy. Accuracy should be about the same between the two rifles.
