Removing Recoil Pad Help

I have a CZ 550FS that i would like to remove the thick rubber recoil pad(not needed) and replace with a hard butt plate. Hoping to also redcue LOP a tad by doing this..

I called CZ & they don't have replacement hard butt plates for the 550's available. Anyone ever do this or have any suggestions???

Thanks in advance!

Re: Removing Recoil Pad Help

Looking at the pic of a 550 it appears to have a 1" pad. so you could install something like a .5" thick Pachmayr RP200 and grind it to fit.

Pachmayr RP200

Re: Removing Recoil Pad Help

Just dropped my gun off at local York County Gunsmith Steve Embersole to do the job. Hard to beat Steve's estimate of $25 plus price of buttplate. Hated to chance a DIY first timer job of ole Loggy potentially butcherin-up a beautiful CZ550FS walnut stock!

Re: Removing Recoil Pad Help

You might order a hard plastic buttplate from CZ. It will have the CZ logo on it, and keep the value up.

Cz have been very helpful to me over the years.
