Shotgun value

I have a Traditiond by Fausti O/U 12 ga. 2 3/4 & 3" fixed choke. Anyone have any idea what it is worth. Thinking of selling it or trading it for a 44 mag revolver.

Re: Shotgun value

Most of those had double triggers and don't bring as much as a single trigger O/U. So when you compare prices be sure that they have the same trigger configuration as yours.

Re: Shotgun value

the only listing the blue book has for a Traditions by Fausti is the "classic filed series 1" It's the only one they list with fixed choke barrels. Your gun should have gold SST, extractors, coin finished frame with etched engraving, checkered walnut stock and forearm, and blued finish.
Blue book values run from 100%=$750, down through 60%= $375
You may see them listed higher on one of the auctions sites, but quality gun owners will not bid there as the dealers listing most of them have them priced very high. I deal a lot and will NEVER buy/sell/trade above the blue book value per % of condition.

I gotta go agitate the techies!

Re: Shotgun value

Problem with fixed choke double guns is no one wants them as I found out when I wanted to sell my Franchi O/U, they want chike tubes. I finally sold it, but not for what I wanted.

Re: Shotgun value

Your right John. But most of my double shotguns have fixed chokes. And with two instant choices, I don't find that much of a disadvantage. Maybe if I was trying to hunt high ducks and geese with my fixed choke grouse gun it would be a problem. So the lower price on the fixed cchoke doubles looks like a bargain to me.

Sorry to hear the Franchi is gone, hope it wasn't a 28 gauge. I need one of those.

Re: Shotgun value

Nah, 12 ga, I would have kept it if it was a .28. I had to make room in the safe for a gun for my grandson and I wasn't using the O/U, hadn't for years as I prefer SXS guns. I never had a problem with fixed chokes either since I hunted longer with them than a tube gun but that is where we are today, people put too much importance on chokes.
