Question on leupold scope bases

I have a SA savage 16 .308 with the round reciever. I went to a gunshop today and picked up some 2 peice leupold bases that were recommended by the counterperson. Their model # 55742. I tried dry fitting the bases when I got home and the bolt of my gun is hitting the rear base with the elevation screw. What am I doing wrong here?

Ive checked online and everywhere seems to reccomend these bases. i just dont see how they could work without putting the windage screw on the front base.

Re: Question on leupold scope bases

This is one of my LAs with the 2 piece 'pold bases.

The windage adjustments should be forward.

It may over hang the port a bit.
