You may want to verify with the ATF about AR's, they may fall under a different category but you can mail long guns to yourself as long as you are the recipient. It is perfectly legal.

I think he's talking about just the gun part not a whole rifle. Since you can buy parts online or wherever and have them shipped to you, I wouldn't think it's a problem.

Re: Firearm Shipping

It will have to be shipped back. You can buy it there but it will need to be sent to an FFL here. I bought one in KY a few years ago. If it was a bordering state no problem but not bordering it'll have to be shipped to your fav local ffl.
Even though its a gun "part"...that "part" is the gun.

Re: Firearm Shipping

Thats an interesting question. You are allowed to ship your own firearms back to yourself say you are on an out of state hunt you can ship it back home, and you can recieve it from a dealer/gunsmith/manufacturer if it was already your gun, however its not legal to buy and have it shipped from out of state all in 1 step without going through a local FFL. So if you bought the lower and had the 4473 done on site, then took possession packed it up and shipped it home, it would be your own gun you are shipping so it should be legal but since you just bought it to ship it home I don't know how that would be seen by the ATF guys.

Re: Firearm Shipping

Only handguns require the a FFL in your home state. Longgun and others(receivers, pistol grip only shotguns) can be purchased and transferred in another state. If you can do the transfer in another state, then you can ship it directly to your house.

If you have to track your game, then you aren't using a big enuff gun.

Re: Firearm Shipping

I would call the BATF.Write down the name of the person taking the call.the time and the date. Also write notes of questions and answers during the call.Make special notes if the person tells you it's legal or illegal. That way you have a chance if they are wrong. You don't want a felony for trying to make your life easier.Guessing about the law and getting your answers from the internet is a bad idea. The amount of time you spent typing would have got you real answers you can back up with a name.Ignorance is no exception to the law.If you call the law and document what they said and follow it you are no longer ignorant.Myself I would just pay to buy it in Pittsburgh.By the time you pay all the transfers and shipping you may be in the negative dollars with less legal hassles.Your call, have fun with the new toy.
