Stripping Paint

I have a mossberg 835 that was painted and clear coated....my question is if i strip the internals out can i soak the painted part is laquer thinner or paint stripper? and will this remove the blueing below the paint? thanks much

Acetone or denatured alcohol should work fine. You may have to soak it and then wipe it off repeatedly. It shouldn't remove the bluing as the bluing is just a controlled "rust" on the metal. Make sure to clean the insides of the receiver well so it does not gum up.
