Ruger 10 22 upgrade suggestions

I recently got hold of a Ruger 10 22 polymer stocked basic model in a trade and I am am looking to upgrade it with after-market items. There are so many options I don't know where to start so I would like to hear what you folks would do, or what you have done, to tune up the 10 22's you may have.
For example, the trigger group in the one I have is almost completely polymer and I can see that there are many upgrades available but I am clueless on what to select as a replacement.

Good night Chesty, wherever you are......

Depending on what it is going to be used for there are many manufacturers of parts. Volquartsen is one I have had some experience with. If it will be used for hunting a better trigger and scope mount would be wanted by some. Competition guns would receive trigger groups, sear, hammer and barrel.

From what I have seen Ruger themselves sell an upgraded trigger group(BX trigger). It's not the best that I have felt, but the other options seem to be double the price or more. Depends on how much you're willing to spend and how far you're willing to go.

As you've said, there are many many options. I haven't done any upgrades to mine yet, but I'm looking at getting the BX trigger and perhaps an E.R. Shaw barrel in the future.

My other word of advice is to buy only Ruger factory mags. I've tried some of the aftermarket brands and none seem to function as well as the Ruger mags.
