243 Win.

I just got a Remington model 7 predator in 243 Win and will use this mostly for coyote and grounhog and sometimes my nephew will use it to deer hunt with and was wondering if theres a all around ammo I can use for both?

Freezer full yet?

Re: 243 Win.

I like the 95 grain winchester ballistic silvertips, they will work well as a coyote load and deer load.

Re: 243 Win.

I've only ever used the 100 grain Core-Lokts for everything...groundhogs to deer. Cheap ammo that seems to "explode" within a deer...drops them like a lightning bolt!

Re: 243 Win.

smitty.....All I have ever used is 95 gr ballistic tips. I have shot a 340 lb bear with it along with countless deer chucks, squirrels and anything else I could shoot at. it did the job well. I know a lot will say too small but that bear just dropped like a ton of bricks!

Re: 243 Win.

All I ever shoot out of mine is 100 grain serria game kings that I load. I use it for everything so I don't have to change the scope settings.

My pump gun has a fast twist, and it doesn't seem to shoot light bullets all that well, but those 100 grainers shoot awesome.

In all reality if you don't reload I would get a couple boxes of cheap 90-100 grain loads, and try them. I would start with the Remington green box for a number of reasons.

Re: 243 Win.

I've had mine since I was 11 and I think any solid 100grn bullet will do well for everything. It smokes deer.I'm 41 now and have killed lots of critters with mine.I have lots of guns but the .243 is my favorite

I have no complaints with 100 gr CoreLokts on deer and antelope.

85 gr bthp

The deer didn't disappear.... the 250,000 guys who used to walk around and make the deer move did.
