yes you can fire standard 7x30,s out of a 7x30 imp, they will fire form. their is a small increase in speed, the main thing is the 7x30 imp will have a shoulder and can be headspaced off it and cases will last longer. my 7x30 waters is a older tc contender carbine. eastbank.
Whatís the difference between the two and can factory 7-30 waters ammo be shot out of 7-30 improved barrel?
You can but why would you want to. When you have an improved you have to fire form the brass to blow out the case , etc. It will hold more powder giving you more velocity that's the main reason for an improved version. If you run on to some inexpensive factory loads sure its easier then loading up to fire form. That would be the only reason I would do that. Hope I'm on the same page as your question.
No info on the improved, but one of the barrels for my T/C Contenders is a 14” in 7-30 Waters. What an awesome cartridge! I’ve had it for 3 years and I’ve taken two deer with it. A doe in 2015 and an 8-pointer this year.
I have two loads; one uses the Nosler 120gr BT and the other uses the Hornady 139gr SST. Both are loaded with Varget. Both will shoot sub 1” groups from a rest at 100 yards all day.
Factory brass can be very hard to find, but it can be easily made from .30/30 brass, at least when it comes to the regular 7-30 Waters. I have read that trying to use regular 7-30 or .30/30 brass for the 7-30 Waters Improved leaves you with a too short case neck. I think they say to use .38-55 brass for making the Improved cases.
