Savage Axis or Edge 223 has a 1:9 rate of twist

I am looking forward to try the .224 60 grain Partiton deer bullet in the Savage Edge.. Neat that they, Savage made a 223 with a rate of twist of 1:9.

T/C Encore...barrels 22250 and 223 rate of twist is 1:12. The 22250 Encore barrel shoots the 60 grain Partition bullet outstanding..

I just think it's nice that Savage went and made a 223 with a rate of twist that will handle heavier bullets..

After months of trying to shoot an Edge that I won... I got out today...What a nice gun!!!!!It groups well with Remington 55 grain SP and 50 grain Winchester Silver Tips.
Looking forward to use it for fox... Johnny Stewarts son Gerald Stewart shared info on how the Win Silvertip bullets were a fur friendly round...I'm looking forward to try the 50 graienrs out on chucks, fox, and coyotes!!!

I had a less than half inch group with mine last Monday at 100 yards using the 55gr hornady vmax rounds. That was on an already warm barrel. It's a great gun for the price. The trigger does need to be lightened a bit but it's got no creep and no overtravel. Shoots like a savage. Going to go give it a workout today on some groundhogs hopefully.

I was hoping that I would hit paper with the edge at 100 yards... Historically this is never the case and I had to start to hit paper at 25 yards...A few adjsutments and I was hitting paper at the 100 yard mark.
