Stock Checkering

How do you take care of the checkering on your wooden stock ?

ive redone a couple rifle stocks with checkering and i always made sure to put the finish i use on the checkering. i used a soft toothbrush to apply it so it wouldnt leave runs all over the checkering. there will always be some wear on the checkering from use but thats unavoidable. hope this helps.
