Safety Issue

May be an odd question, is there a way to change the way a safety is set up on a rifle?
I have a .308 Norma Mag with a "paddle" style safety. Not sure the technical term for it. Anyhow the only way to hunt with it is to leave it half way down. Otherwise it sits flush against scope and in a pinch can't be flipped off.
Just wondered if this could be changed somehow.

does the safety stand high enough to have it bent/shaped to make it better ?
another option would be higher scope mounts.

Higher scope mounts.

You could try this: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/87...l-in-the-white

Or buy a timney trigger with side safety but it will require some inletting work.

That is a Mauser style safty. It can be changed to a Winchester style. Brownell sells the parts but you need a gunsmith to machine the bolt. I had one converted and it works great.

you may be looking for this safety, looks like you gun is a model 98 mauser.
there are several UTUBE videos on how to disassemble the 98 mauser bolt. I did one several years ago, very easy to do 5 to 10 minutes

Thanks guys.

It does have highest scope mounts available. Technically with scope off safety rotates almost 180 degrees more.

I am going to look into getting in switched to a Winchester style as was suggested.

If you switch to a weaver base, those see-through scope mounts would be even higher...also if you don't like see-through mounts you might be able use some of those base risers...just cheaper suggestions....good luck.

You could add an extension to the safety lever.
