Hi guys getting a vanguard in 257 weatherby mag next week from a fellow off here, my question is what kind of mounting system would you recommend? Most of my stuff has either leupold standard mounts and rings or weaver rail and burris weaver rings. Its a vanguard deluxe so i want to make it look nice. I like the talley one piece rings as thats what i have on my xbolt and theyve been great just not sure how aluminum rings will do with the recoil of a magnum. Im open to suggestions. Planning on putting a leupold vx3i on her. Thanks for the help!

Tallys or leupolds should be good. Recoil of the 257 is really not any more than standard rounds like the 270, 280, etc. Nice rifle, nothing like wood and blue, except maybe wood and stainless. My recent preference is for Zeiss but can't go wrong with leupold scope.

Leupolds will be fine. Ive had leupolds on some heavy hitters and never a problem. If your at all concerned a tiny dab of loctite will end all doubt. Can't go wrong with Leupold glass either. Those weatherbys are a sharp looking rifle I must say. If it shoots anything like my plastic vanguard in 243 it's a winner. Very good shooter.

16 years and counting. Welcome to the life of a Buffalo Bills fan!

I like Leupold mounts on my hunting rifles. I'm not familiar with the Talleys, but I've heard a lot of good things. I wouldn't worry about the recoil, I think any half decent bases and rings will handle it just fine.

I have talley lightweights on my new 338 ultra mag. So far they are holding just fine. My 257 wby, 7 wsm, 308, and 223ai all have talley lightweights as well. I really like them. As already stated, 257 wby is not bad regarding recoil.

Recoil in my Vanguard is mild, I would go with Leupold and be happy.
