Reassemble 870 express

Haven't used for.a couple years saw it in the safe and cleaned it as the exterior looked in bad shape. Cleaned up just fine . I cannot get slide pump action back together. Have watched you tube. Very frustrating.

Are you having trouble getting the slide action bars back into the receiver?

Yes. I get the right side started and depress the part underneath the receiver then I start with the left side and that is the problem. It doesn't want to slide in and the slide block assembly gets pushed up. Beyond very frustrating.

You need to depress the right side shell latch first to allow the action bar to slide past then depress the left side shell latch to allow the action bar to full seat.

Sometimes its a balancing act. Clearing the latches while balancing and lining up the bolt.
You clear the right latch and as you clear the left the right pops back. Keep rearward pressure on the slide after you clear the right latch. The latches are made to function independently to release a round from the magazine and stop the next round from double feeding. They line up with the notches cut in the action bars.

Thanks. I don't use but thought it looked bad in the safe. So had at it. Cleaned up well. But like Humpty Dumpty proving difficult to put back together again. Thanks.
