Savage 219

Looks like i may be ending up with a Savage 219 in .22 Hornet this week!! Anybody out there have one?

I have one with a 30/30 and 20 gauge barrel. Carried it my first year hunting.

They were a decent gun. I think they're a lot better than these NEF and Rossi hammer single shots that we have now. It's a shame they don't still make the 219.

For under $200, that is a heckuva deal.At all the gun auctions I go to, you can find them in 30-30 for that. But I've never seen one in 22 Hornet go near that cheap. I'd have to look back at my records, but I'm pretty sure they usually hit the $300-350 range pretty easily. And if it has really nice wood they go for even more.

Its a little beat up. Bore looks great though! I got a Weaver V8 cleaned up for it already!

I've always wanted one in 22 Hornet. A Tioga cousin has had one for years. It was once a "truck" gun and looks it, but it still shoots very well.

Good catch.

Some folks' learnin' curves just look like circles...3A Camp/also hunt 4B
