First gun you bought.

What was the first gun you bought for yourself? Not one that you started hunting with or one given to you but the first that you actually purchased for yourself. Mine was a Savage Pump 12 gauge from Joe The Motorist Friend for $69.00 after getting first paycheck from part time job in 1975. Cant even remember what happened to it but sure wish I had it now.

Winchester semi shotgun 12 gauge. One week after I turned 18 and had the power of my age and a paycheck.Paid $200 for it because it was won in a gun bash and the guy wanted a pump.I got the semi for the price of a pump or so he said.Sold it 2 years ago for what I paid for it.It had quite a few rounds down the tube.

Bob Seger,till it shines.

First gun I bought for myself was a .50 caliber T/C Hawken. Shot two deer with it in the late FL season and probably missed 30 or 40.

Ithaca M49 Saddlegun 22 cal. in 1961. I was 15 years old, walked into Western Auto Store by myself and purchased the gun and box of ammo on my own, no paper work. Both totaled around $20.

I can't remember which one came first, but when I was 18-19 I purchased a Winchester 70 Super Shadow in 7mm WSM and a Marlin 17VS in 17HMR. The Winchester is still my go to deer rifle. I still have the 17HMR also, killed A LOT of groundhogs with that one but it doesn't get used as much anymore.
