Shaw Rifles???

I just purchased a voucher to design a Shaw rifle at an NRA banquet. From my understanding, I have free reign to design anything they have to offer.

Has anyone ever dealt with them? Have one? I'd like to hear the good and maybe just some of the bad cuz I already paid for the certificate

They appear to have 70+ calibers available. It might be kinda fun designing something... i.e.barrel lenght, fluting, laminated or synthetic stock. It was touted as your opportunity to design a dream rifle but we'll see.

Thanks in advance for the input!!!

Re: Shaw Rifles???

I flirted around with building one awhile back but was a little put off by the 14 month lead time. Not that I couldn't wait but for the particular project I was building I needed it done a little sooner. Ended up buying a Kimber.

If memory seves me they use a Savage action available in your choice of SS, Matte, Polished or SS matte then the rest is basically up to you. They have a ton of interesting calibers to choose from as well as various stock choices. Triggers are Savage Accutriggers and your choice of SS or blued barrel. Barrels are available with a couple different contours as well as stright fluting and helical fluting.

All this for around $1000 adds up to a pretty decent deal for a semi custom rifle.

The accutrigger is enough to turn me off of them.

The deer didn't disappear.... the 250,000 guys who used to walk around and make the deer move did.

Re: Shaw Rifles???

I am awaiting a 260 in a wooden stock with a polished stainless action and helically fluted polished stainless 22 inch barrel. cost for mine was $1015 including tax and shipping. prices run from $625 to $1100 depending on what combos you use. My salesman, do not remember his name, was awesome. The downside is an approximate 12-14 month wait. MIne will be done in feb of next year. If anyone has any questions pm me and I could look up any info for them.

Re: Shaw Rifles???

I played with it last week. They have a design series:

Only down side is you have to submit it for pricing and wait on an email back.

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.

A tiny bit off topic. I'm an estimator, and sending pricing to tire kickers is a major annoyance. Sending follow up or calling these people is an even bigger waste of time. Why wouldn't they just publish a price list? Would save a lot of people a lot of time.

Re: Shaw Rifles???

I agree. The point being, for most of use, buying a custom or semi custom rifle is a planned event and price is a big factor. No way I would ever just place an order without knowing the final cost.

They know what the options are that they offer. No reason not to just post a price when your done with the build tool.

I think they would likely sell more rifles with the no hassel / immeadiate information.

Is that the only trigger choice they have? I can`t stand the AT myself.
