Re: speer new deep curl bullet

the deep curl is jsut a bonded bullet, like others also make.

Bonded chemically or electronically, the jacket is attached to the core and then gives a tougher bullet without excessive jacket separation. It will load and shoot like any other 6mm bullet. But it may perform better than other designs you may have used on flesh.

There is no reson for a bonded bullet for target, plinking or varmint hunting. For deer, bonded bullets can be better than other brands. They open more reliably and expand better than the copper bullet like the barnes.

Re: speer new deep curl bullet

Also note that the Deep Curl bullets are NOT in the same price class as other bonded bullets. They are generally the same price as traditional cup & core bullets but with the added benefits of chemical bonding jacket to core. I read somewhere(on the net) that these Speer bullets are plated jackets....meaning instead of a copper cup swaged around a lead core they are a lead core plated up like many pistol bullets are.

I intend to try them out in my 257 whenever I can. They offer things that I like in a small-bore bullet....bonded, flat point(vs. pointy that gets damaged in the magazine), and economical price.

You really under estimated the ramifications of the boondoggle you have just perpetrated!

Re: speer new deep curl bullet

The lady at speer stated the 90 gr. deep curl in the 6MM
there is no load data yet printed.
I seen hem for sale at [email protected] about the same price at the regular speer line.
I just ordered some Remington Core-lock 100 Gr. seem they have taken a lot of game over the years

Re: speer new deep curl bullet

Its a deer, don't worry about it so much.

Sierra 85 grain hollow points or spitzers in you 243 and go hunting instead of monkeying around with new fang dangled.

The deer didn't disappear.... the 250,000 guys who used to walk around and make the deer move did.

Re: speer new deep curl bullet

"Remington Core-lock 100 Gr" great deer medicine. I've shot some bonded plated bullets in premium loaded ammo for the 325WSM, just to get cases. Three deer all dead on arrival. The 325 WSM is really tooo much for deer. My 325 Mauser works better.

Re: speer new deep curl bullet

I was just told the remington 600 mohawk came with a 1 in 9 twist in the 243 cal.
I could of went a little higher in Grains like the speer 105 but I am sure the deer will be DOA when hit with the Rem 100 Gr corelock
