another garand question

Hey guys

Got my garand other day took home clean it up had some putting and garbage on it. bore not so good still scrubbing the crap out of it. my question is how bad is it that it will be unsafe to shoot. also its a cai model I guess they aren't that good. I really don't know much about them just what I read on all the forums. next time going thru the cmp

for your sake I hope it is not a reweld. Back in the day they took de-milled receivers and welded them back together to sell. Look for a very faint line running from top to bottom in the middle of the receiver where grind marks might still show. For more information you could google "reweld Garands" Re-welds are almost impossible to sell to anyone who knows what they are looking at.

If it is just a beat up old GI issue you should take it to a smith to be checked out for head space and have the bore checked just like they do at the CMP.
