Picked up new Henry with RUST

I ordered a 45/70 last week and it came in today. I picked it up tonight and didn't notice rust/pitting below where it's loaded and also rust inside and outside where the barrel attaches to the receiver. I just sent an email to Henry. I also sent a message to the gun shop buts it's not there fault or likely anything they can do about now. I guess I should have spent the extra money for the all weather model.

I think you are owed a new rifle. It will probably get repaired though. How didn't the shop notice that when they got the serial number.

Always best to check out any thing before purchase in front of clerk, note anything doesn't look right .You have the option not to purchase. If Henry or dealer is reputable and any kind of company they will replace the gun with a different one or refund money, not recondition that one I assume you bought it as new not reconditioned

if it ain't broke don't fix it

Was it an "all sales final" deal? If not, then demand a refund. You are obviously not satisfied, and you shoudn't be made to accept a sub par item. I certainly wouldn't accept that as a new item. If it was being sold as blemished, or even second hand, then fine, but for a new item, no way. Get your money back.

Henry will take care of you. I found a hairline crack on my stock over the weekend. It's a brand new 45/70 golden boy. I contacted them and they are sending out a new stock asap. Great customer service.

I see said the Blind Carpenter to his Deaf Helper as he picked up his Hammer and Saw!
