Re: scoping a mosin

machine a dovetail??
No.
I have one with the S&K scout type mount in place of the rear sight using a pistol scope.
Not your thing?
Another one I have uses the ATI mount in which you use a drill press to drill and tap your base screw holes.
Use a drill press and not a hand drill , less likely to mess it up.
ATI mount comes with a bent handle to put on your origanal bolt body.
These have both been rock soild.
STAY away from B-square mounts. I warned you.

Re: scoping a mosin

with a severe stygmatism, extreme nearsighted and a problem focusing on inbetween images a pistol scope is out of the question. if i look close i can't see far, if i look far i can't see close. open sights are out, if i focus on seeing the blade i can't see the rear sight, and vice versa!!!!

if you bought it, a trucker brought it

Re: scoping a mosin

Well , that ATI mount in the 2nd pic will use a normal rifle scope.
The S&K scout style "1st pic" is the one that doesn't.
Either one may be swapped for a red dot tho.

In the pic I posted in my 1st reply it had yet to be done but what I did , in these following pics was to weld part of a ring to the cocking piece.
That allows me to stick my finger threw it and turn because it is harder to use the safety with out some modifcation as you noted.
I do not know what the ring was from , found it laying on the floor of a garage.
