Re: custom build

Call Brad Emig or Allen Martin. A lot depends on your requirements / specifications and then you need to take into consideration the work in front of your job.

Re: custom build

If you have everything to provide the shop, all that could be done very quickly, you still have to consider how busy they are. Assuming the shop had nothing else to do, your gun could be done in one day, if they did not have to outsource anything or wait for parts.

I should have not taken it for granted that because I am looking for a builder for my flintlock that you were looking for a flint builder too! Pretty self centerd on my part and I apoligize.

Re: custom build

I ordered a custom gun from the Remington custom shop, with no bells or whistles, almost 2 years ago. It was so long ago I actually forgot about it. When I remembered a few days ago I called and found out they had forgotten about it too. Needless to say I cancelled the order on the spot.

Re: custom build

Ship your parts to Bobby Hart in Nescopeck, pay the deposit and tell him what you want, they will give the order to Jasper the whizkid in the shop, you will have your gun in short order. It pays to pay the men who do it best if you don't want to wait. The worst thing you can tell any craftsman is " I'm not in any hurry".

Re: custom build

Hart does decent work, to say he does the best is not true. Since you're in Perry Co. drive up to Potters Mills and see Ted Ulmer, He does good work and has about a month turn around right now. Potters Mills isn't that far from Perry Co. There are plenty of great gunsmiths around with decent turn around times, Bob Green is in York and Eric Springman is in Elimsport, both have good turn around times. Mark King is in Duncannon but his lead time is a little longer.
