How much?

I have a Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage. The gun is in excellent shape and shoots very well. The serial number is 7350xx. The stamping says Model 99 with a Z under it.

I am just curious if anyone knows roughly how much it is worth. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: How much?

A picture would help a whole lot..Some models are more desirable than others..Other things like refinishing and drilling holes for scope or swivels decrease value..Rare calibers like 250-3000 or 358 increase value.

Re: How much?

Sorry, I have no pictures right now. It has the full forearm stock, it is drilled and tapped and has a scope mounted to it. it has the brass magazine indicator and has pegs in the stock for a sling. It also has a front iron blade sight and an extended butt plate on the stock. The wood is in great shape with only a few minor dings in it and the barrels and other steel in in good shape.

I know that you can't give me a definitive answer on the value. I am just looking for a ballpark figure.

BTW my grandfather owns a 250-3000 Savage Model 99 with the tapered forearm stock in great shape. Any idea on that?

Re: How much?

Your serial number puts it mid to late 50's. If it is only six digits. Most 99's have a letter designation, but Z is not one of them. Biggest range of value comes in solid frame or take down models. If you have a take down 99, its worth more. Excellent shape mid fifties 99 solid frame your in the range of $450 to $550. Your grandfathers is probably much older from your description, and the older guns generally bring more.
