more that 5 million rifles, 2 dozon deaths and 100 injuries. i'd say you have a better chance of being struck by lighting......twice.

Re: USA Today on M700 Triggers

You can pick up just about any 98 mauser and chances are it has killed more people than all the 700 Remingtons. Maybe we should ask the Germans to fix that.

Re: USA Today on M700 Triggers

Given that many own more than one M700, then factor-in the probably 4 million+ people who own them, when ponderin' the number of injuries and incidents.

How many firearms-related deaths (non criminally related), do ya think have happened with all other firearms, since the M700 was introduced in the early 60s?

Re: USA Today on M700 Triggers

I only own two 700's right now and trust me, I plan to own many more no matter what bull hockey the media tries to feed us!!

I'm willing to die trying to keep them; Are you willing to die trying to take them?

Re: USA Today on M700 Triggers

Do I think there is a real issue? Yes, in a very small minority of rifles. Remington's own documents show they estimated it at less then 1%. But it is a real problem on those few rifles. Though in the case of the M700 1% is a few 10 thousands rifles.

Would I own a 700? Yes, the vast majority of 700's are OK.

Re: USA Today on M700 Triggers

Really one percent? How about .000000001 of a percent. That's why they can not duplicate it. And maybe, just maybe if a person is capable of pointing a loaded gun in a person direction then maybe they had their finger inside the trigger guard when shutting the bolt! Why do we believe it's the gun that has proven itself. But could not be the shooter. Ever go to a state game range - spend a Saturday before buck season, and let me know your thoughts.
