Just bought a 5 MM Mag from my FIL and wondered if anyone here ever had one?

Centurion resumed making the ammo a few years ago but am not sure if they still are. In any event if they haven't stopped it they will soon, I'm guessing. The cartridge is virtually dead....

Yes, I have one and when I bought it I laid in a small supply of ammunition that I don't know how long will last me. It's a great little woodchuck rifle.
There is some sort of conversion that can be done to turn it into a center fire but I never really understood the how and what cartridge the rifle would fire.

I've seen 5mm ammo at auctions. Usually go for around $50 for 50 rounds.

Aguila aka Centurion is going to be making 5mm ammo again. I have a Remington 591.

Have a pair of them.......... a 591M and a 592M. They are NOT what most people picture when they think "rimfire". They are little beasts !!

Centurion (Aguila) did a several year run of new manufacture ammo, which ended a year or so ago. Right now, you're looking at $1+/round on the secondary market. Supposedly................ SUPPOSEDLY............ Centurion is to resume production in 2017. I hope they come through. But I ain't holding my breath.

The centerfire conversion is called the 5mm Craig. It utilizes a centerfire bolt and is through Eagle View Arms.

About the same time, mid 70's I bought a Daisy Case less VL..some of you old timers may remember them, outstanding concept..it had a solid propellant stuck on the bottom of a lead .22 cal bullet, it fired by compressed air striking the fuel, same as a 22 or, I had two boxes of tubed shells I've been saving all these years, my son some how never saw it, I had it put away, he's 30 years old...he took it outside and I told him it hadn't been fired in nearly 50 years, he put one in, bang, I was stunned it went off, I'd love to find shells for it but it would be rarer than capped hens teeth...great concept !!
