tika t3 won't shoot

Just had my sons new tika to the range, it shoots about a 6 inch group. I brought it home checked the action screws, and rings, also cleaned the [censored] out of it. Going to take it to the range again tomorrow, if it doesn't shoot then it's going back to the gun shop to be sent back. Everything I've read about the Tika is that they are a shooter, not this one

the thrill is not in the kill, but in the experience

Re: tika t3 won't shoot

What caliber?
Only reason I ask is because I hunt areas that require lead-free ammo and have a hard time stabilizing these bullets because of slow twist rates and bullets being dimensionally longer. One of the rifles I been watching is Tikka because they have started making their barrels for smaller calibers with a faster twist rate.

Just wondering if you are experiencing a reverse scenario?

That's surprising. I've never heard of a Tikka T3 that wouldn't group well. What caliber is it?

Re: tika t3 won't shoot

Some Tikka shooters condem the factory rings. I didn`t try them on my Tikka, put Weavers on instead. It is a really accurate .243....

Re: tika t3 won't shoot

Never once have I heard this about a Tika- Are you shooting handloads, what's the caliber, is the scope working, are u trying to group with a hot barrel after sighting in. Six inch group to me means there is something big is wrong. I would try to remove the action from the stock and reseat the action. Please give updates, I really want to hear how this ends.

Know its new but check the crown of the barrel. If it has a nick in it that will cause it to not group well.

Re: tika t3 won't shoot

They come with a one inch guarantee, and if it won't shoot, (i think) you can send it back to the factory for them to "diagnose" its disease.

However, if this is a larger cal (aka the 338 mag) then i'd try to adjust the shooter's screws before i'd blame the rifle.

On a side note, i shot my ~.3 inch group with the factory supplied rings, i think they are quite adequate unless you plan on dropping your gun down the stairs, or... a mountain.

Once you go tikka, you'll never have to say eureka!

Re: tika t3 won't shoot

It is a 204 ruger. Will try reseating the action before I take to the range this evening.
