Range Report 1/17/11 Tikka

I got this gun a while ago but didn't have a good enough scope to do any satisfactory groupings with it.

I finally received my bushnell 3200 3-9x40 Saturday after ordering from midway during their sale. I slapped it on my Tikka T3 in .243 win and went to the range today. Took 4 shots to zero in and i started printing groups. Then the following happened:

Yes sir, that's 3 shots @ 100 yards, Federal Premium cheap-o red box stuff, 100 grain. I measured roughly .30 in with the calibers shown, center to center (but showing outside to outside only in the pic) and i later checked it with a digital and got .235 inch, and it was even a little windy today.

Needless to say, i about dirtied my pants after measuring that one. These Tikka's do great things. I think i'm forgoing the Remington and waiting till another T3 (in .308 win) becomes available to me.

ps sorry for the condition of the pic, my camera has seen better days.

The group above was shot previous to the one below, i didn't bother measuring it but if the wind wasn't blowing during those shots, I'm sure it would have been another sub .5 inch group

Was the top group from the same rifle with the same ammo?

The deer didn't disappear.... the 250,000 guys who used to walk around and make the deer move did.

same rifle/ammo, however i did not let the barrel cool any between shots, just 1,2 and 3. I also shifted my sled a little bit and that seemed to help steady a small shake i was having.

I too have a Tika T3 in a 300 wsm that shots .25- .50 - Is there a Tika that does not shoot well? I have never heard of one yet, they really do it right. Great job and good like with your T3!

Thanks Chief. I have read some chuck hawks articles where he bashes the T3 as being ill-produced and such and goes on to say that very few of them actually meet that 1 MOA/inch (whichever it is) guarantee. All i know is that mine can shoot sub 1/2 inch groups if i do my part and like you said, I have never heard of one not shooting well other than on Chuck's articles. If anyone wants the link to the specific article ill find it.

Re: Range Report 1/17/11 Tikka

3 years ago I bought a Tikka T3 in 30-06 with a Nikon 3-9 buckmaster scope. it shot sub 1" out of the box and i have never missed a deer with it. I own many guns but i cant quite get myselft to go back to using any of the other ones. everytime i reach into my gun safe i always pull out the Tikka.
