Marlin 22 mag

Anyone have a marlin 22 mag ? How is the accuracy ? Just won one in a raffle, trying to decide if I should keep it or trade before I shoot it.

Re: Marlin 22 mag

I have a Marlin 25MN that I bought years ago. It has a cheap Swift scope on it. It is my go-to squirrel gun. Very accurate!

Re: Marlin 22 mag

I have a stainless one and it was fairly accurate in the few times that I shot it. You are unlikely to get 223-level accuracy though. I would feel confident hitting groundhogs out to 125 or maybe 150 yards.

I like mine a lot (other than the cheesy front sight). I put a Leupold scope on it. The reason I don't shoot it much is the difficulty in finding ammunition.

I have a Model 25M Marlin. Shoots great. I have a few of the LR versions also. There great too. I bought the first one from Woolworths in 1984 for $85. with a scope.

Re: Marlin 22 mag

I have a Marlin 882 .22mag that I've used to take turkeys in the fall. Very accurate at 100 yards, especially with Winchester 40gr HP ammo.

Re: Marlin 22 mag

The HB Marlins seem to perform well..If you can get ahold of some Remington 33 gr. HPs try them. They've been the most accurate for me out of several .22 WMRs...even better than RWS...

Re: Marlin 22 mag

I have a Marlin model 783 that I got for Christmas in 1976. It is very accurate with CCI 40 grain hollow points.
