Re: budget gun help

be patient, with the economy in the tank, and the christmas bills coming due, check ur local newspaper, or firearms website, for some good deals on used firearms.

What's the budget? It's a pretty extreme range when it comes to rifles.

Re: budget gun help

Take a look at the Savage Edge/Axis, Marlin X7's, and Stevens 200.

the Marlin weighs in about 6 1/2 lbs action and features an adjustable trigger, synthetic stock and comes in a good selection of calibers

The Savage is also 6 1/2 lbs, synthetic stock, 2 position safety and comes in a slew of cartidges.

The Stevens also comes in at 6 1/2 lbs features a thumb safety and is available in a variety of calibers.

How much is in the budget? Then you can get help in being pointed in the right direction.

And the Marlin and the Savasge will shoot. Dont know much about Stevens but they might be excellent also.

My Daughter just got a Marlin in 243 and right out of the box it shot 3/4 at 100. And my Savage in 204 would do 1/2.
Great guns for the money.

Re: budget gun help

I'm thrilled with my Marlin. second box of ammo did this at 100 yards...

then after a little tinkering with some handloads, using hornady SP 150's, varget powder and CBC brass, loading by hand with a hammer and lee loader i was able to shoot these groups...

again, hornady ammo, 44.5gr and 45gr varget. the gun shoots FAR better than I do.

Marlin XS7 in .308WIN - this is my third Marlin rifle. Had a 25MN a number of years ago, and have an 882SSV now. Every marlin I've ever owned was a fine shooter. the new 882SSV likes to shoot ammo into a single hole too...

Marlin 882SSV, BSA 4-16x40 mildot, Hornady 30gr VMAX, 5 shots @ 50 yards:
