savage all weather rifles (weather warrior)

i see savage is chambering the 284-6.5 norma..that's an intresting load should make a super whitetail rifle..was wondering about the quality of the savage weather warrior series . good ? bad?...does savage still put the plastic trigger guards on their rifles?

Re: savage all weather rifles (weather warrior)

I've had two. Cheap and rough stocks, but tack drivers. Mine have metal trigger guards if my memory serves.

Re: savage all weather rifles (weather warrior)

Love mine in 270 win, Will shoot one hole at 100 yds with my handloads. Only thing I did not like was I had to shim the base when I put my Zeiss on it. The Zeiss did'nt have enough elevation adjustment. And no plastic trigger guard.

Guns are like socks you can never have enough

Re: savage all weather rifles (weather warrior)

I have a Savage 116 weather warrior with stainless barrel in 300 win mag. It has a metal trigger guard & hinged drop plate. I mounted a Burris Fullfield II with BDC and as mentioned above, tack driver!!!

why not get a 280? same powder capacity, and improved feeding without the belt?

lots of free brass too.

The 6.5-284 doesn't have a belt.

The brass for it is $$$$. I thought about building a rifle chambered for it but the brass cost turned me off vs. the other 6.5's.

Re: savage all weather rifles (weather warrior)

sorry wood chuck hunter, I was thinking 280-6.5 mag. No belt, but identical capacity to the '06. My brain misfired, just don't read my earlier post LOL.

Savages shoot great have owned three. They don't resell easily unless you give them away and they aren't cheap anymore.
