Difference between ADL and BDL?

What are the differences between a Remington ADL and a BDL?

You just shot an unarmed man. Well he should have armed himself!!! Clint Eastwood.

Re: Difference between ADL and BDL?

bdl has a jeweled bolt, usually a nicer grade stock, and a drop out floor plate for unloading., whereas the adl you have to cycle the bolt to individually remove each shell

The ADL has a jeweled bolt as well as a walnut stock too...The BDl has a black forend cap, a hooded front sight, and of course, the drop down plate.

Re: Difference between ADL and BDL?

The ADL has been replaced by the SPS line-up, of which some have a detatchable magazine.

AS already stated the main differnces were finish, jeweled bolt and the floorplate.

Re: Difference between ADL and BDL?

It was once a simple distinction between M700 ADLs and BDLs: BDLs had the floor plate and fancier stocks; ADLs didn't have either.

Then there were the ADL synthetic stocked versions with matte-finished metal work, which were dropped and replaced with the SPS series.

Now there are far more variations, some of which are "special" to certain retailers like Cabela's and Dick's, some of which are branded ADLs.

For some time, Walmart had a laminated, matte ADL which was only available in 30-06, 308 and 270. There were also ADLs with walnut stocks in an oil-like finish, instead of the shiny RKW finish on BDLs.

Then to further muddy the waters, a CDL version was added some years ago.

Re: Difference between ADL and BDL?

My ADL has a jeweled bolt! It is over 30 years old and the wood is the same as my BDL 'cept no fancy black forearm cap/grip cap...I prefer the BDL for the floorplate and once considered buying the trigger guard w/ floorplate for my ADL...

True for the most part, but there are now some variations I've found in retail chain flyers this year, that are not Remington "catalog" items and advertised as ADLs. Up until then, I had figured Rem had dropped the ADL designation from its M700 line? The only ADLs I'd personally seen lately, were those laminated/matte rifles at Wally World.

One synthetic listed as an ADL in some of the sales flyers for retail chains, did not have the characteristic forearm insert found on the SPS series stocks, but otherwise appeared to be identical to other SPS versions, for example.

Grice's had special runs made for assorted Remingtons over the years, but now it appears that several chains are also getting Rem to make them variations not found in gunshops or in the catalog?
