Remington Model 11 Shotgun

I was given a Remington Model 11 .20 gauge Shotgun by a relative to hold for him. I don't know much about it. Can anyone provide any details about the reliability, accuracy, etc. Will it use only 2 3/4" cartridges? Is it legal to hunt with in Pa? Serial # starts with 102xxxx. Any idea of the age?

Re: Remington Model 11 Shotgun

I used to have a really nice one in 12 gauge and was foolish enough to sell it.It was designed by John Browning and was first made by Remington in the very early 1900's,maybe 1906?? It has the long recoil type of action and is basically the same as a Browning auto 5 without the cartridge cutoff feature. Nice gun, and yes it is legal.

Re: Remington Model 11 Shotgun

I have a friend who has one that was his dads. i would love to have one just to go out squirrel hunting one day. when i was a kid i can remember so many guys usung this gun for small game. i know very little about shotguns but can say it is legal but thinking the age of the gun im not sure weather they had anything larger than 2 3/4 when the gun was made. I know my dads 16 gauge wingmaster is only 2 3/4 is was bought new in 1970.

Re: Remington Model 11 Shotgun

On a gun that old, check to see if it is plugged in the magazine. IT MUST BE PLUGGED TO ONLy HOLD 2 SHELLS IN THE TUBE, TO HUNT IN pa OR FOR WATERFOWL ANYWHERE.

A simple hardwood dowel will work.

Re: Remington Model 11 Shotgun

Should the dowel be a certain length for this shotgun?

Re: Remington Model 11 Shotgun

Just make it about 4-5 inches shorter than the tube, and you will be fine. Just has to limmit the amount of shells than can be chambered. As long as only 2 can be pushed up the tube your fine.
