praise for savage edge

i was down at the gunstore friday, and happened upon the savage edge. I felt it over, nothing too fancy, but the lines were clean and everything felt tight. This rifle is fairly-lightweight, points great and is CHEAP! i paid 298, and that includes a bushnell sharpshooter 3x9-40 scope. I went with the 25-06 but i believe this is also available in 22-250,243,308,7mm-08, and 30-06. I decided to take it out saturday, so i got up early and finished the barn work so i could try to get it sighted in. 3 shots out of the box and it was zeroed. and then proceeded to shoot 1/2MOA groups.
For a good starting gun/backup/beater gun I highly suggest checking out the edge, only thing i could see changing is the trigger pull, its a little stiff, about 6 lbs, accutrigger would have been nice.

Re: praise for savage edge

Folks here seem to have a love/hate relationship with the Savage Edge..For the price I'd say that if it shoots good, it's a bargain.

If only they'd devise a different magazine latch the Edge/axis would interest me a lot more.
