stripping paint off bluing

I have an old Stevens 94 single shot that I painted a few years ago. Its something I regret doing now, its a family gun. Its cheap, and the stock is plastic, but I was hoping to order a new stock and strip the acrylic paint off the barrel with out messing up the bluing. Any product suggestions?

Not saying this would work, but I would put a coat of Kroil oil on the barrel let it set a while, and then rub down with a rag , the Kroil will not hurt the bluing, but is a penetrating type oil. I know the Kroil is great at getting copper and minor Lead fouling out.

Birchwood Casey aerosol gun scrubber might work. I got some on a painted stock before and it peeled the paint right up. Wont hurt the bluing either

You may (and I would try it on a small part under the barrel where you wouldn't see it in case this stuff takes off the blueing, want to try this stuff called GoofOff stain remover.

You can pick it up at a Lowes or Home Depot.

Try OOPS Amazing Remover. It should remove the paint without harming the bluing. There's also another product called Goof Off, I believe is the name which is similar to OOPS. They can both be found at Home Depot or Lowes.

I took off painted camo from my shotgun with paint thinner. Never touched the bluing. Looks the same as the day before it was painted.

Re: stripping paint off bluing

I have used Hoppes bore solvent to remove paint on gun metal.
Let it sit and wipe , repeat.
Need a lot of rags.
