Sako AV action...

i was cleaning my Sako AV after another successful season, and removed the bolt completely to clean it. this bolt has some moving parts, and I can't seem to get itback in properly. I can get it back in past the bolt release, and about 3/4ths closed. there is a slot in the reciever where the firing pin mechanism slides into, but the pin isn't lining up with the groove in the stock by the safety. any Suggestions before I have to take it to the gun shop?? Thanks!

You might have camed it over when you were cleaning it. It just has to be uncocked not an easy task. I did the same thing a few years ago but I can't think exactly how I reset it. Jim

Did you try pulling the trigger when inserting the bolt?

Bolt has to be cammed. Do you still have the round plastic bolt take-down tool that came with the gun? Without it they are darn hard to fix. If not and your local shop doesn't have one let me know and I will send you mine to borrow and help you through it if needed. Jared

I was rotating the bolt in the oily rag when I felt something turn. Quite possibly I did cam the bolt I felt it rotate. I don't have the plastic take down tool, I bought the gun used about 8 years ago.

Re: Sako AV action...

Wrap it in rubber and put it in a vice. Pull the bolt up and then put it back in your rifle and don't do that again.

Re: Sako AV action...

You can't just put it in a vise??

Only time I've seen this is with a M77. It was tough, but we did it by hand. I think we just turned the bolt shroud to cock it. Was a long time ago.
