Favorite .30-30 factory load?

Picked up a nice 1973 Marlin 336 last week, and would like input from .30-30 hunters and shooters as to what they like to knock deer down with and/or find accurate. And yes, I know just about all of them work equally well and that the .30-30 has a fine reputation for 100-150 yard deer hunting, I just want some real life experiences. I picked up a box of American Whitetail by Hornady 150 grain RN to get the scope dialed in. I've always hunted with bigger guns (.25/06, .30-06, .300 Win Mag) so I always wanted a handy lightweight short range .30-30, and would like to take it out this season.

Winchester 170gr power points. Shoot tight groups and deer don't go far.

I have used both the Rem and WW 170 gr loads and also some handloads and all worked well. Try a box or two of different brands and see what shoots the best.

Absolutely, gotta find what the gun likes. My Winchester '94 happens to like Remington 170 gr. Round Nose. My Glenfield Model 30 AKA Marlin 336....Likes the Federal 150 gr. Flat point.

Both work quite well on deer.
