I watched it. Pretty scary if it is true. Do you think the ex-employee they interviewed could smoke any faster? That must be a 6 pack a day habit!

Re: remington 700 show

It happened to a used 700 that I bought. Was at the range for the first time. Getting ready to shoot, took the safety off and boom! Scared me to death. It is fixed now.

Re: remington 700 show

we have 3 remington model 600's and it one fired when safety was taken off. They were recalled and fixed by company many years ago. The show was scary and just shows you how corportations value the bottom line more than safety. In the show, the guy that designed the trigger said their was a problem in 1946. It would have cost 5 1/2 cents to fix back then. they interviewed him. He is in his 90's. He said, 'you are going to get me in trouble with Remington'.

Re: remington 700 show

I bought a 700 used several years ago for what I thought was a good deal. I took to the range and it shot perfect no malfunctions.
I took it out last year bear hunting and when I went to unload at the truck. BOOM when I took the safety off.
I know I never pulled the trigger.
Since then I took the rifle to a local gunsmith. He said that someone prior to me owning it adjusted the trigger tension. It was set to 15 ounces. He reset the tension to 3 lbs. So far no more mishaps , but in the back of mind i'm nervous when I take that safety off.
The gunsmith said there are several things people do to their guns that could make them fail:
adjusting the trigger
using oil in the trigger
dirt in the trigger assembly

Re: remington 700 show

Stack e'm, you need to watch the show... This failure has nothing to do with "messing with the trigger" These guns are SCARY to say the least.

LET THE HENS LIVE!!!
