Ruger Customer Service

Picked up Fixed!

Purchased a new in the box LH Ruger Hawkeye in 7mm o8 about two months ago when I heard Ruger had phased out the production of Left hand hawkeyes for 2015. The 7mmo8 had been on my short list for a while and knew I had to get one before they were not available any longer. When my rifle came in about a month ago I noticed that the muzzle had been damaged during shipping from the wholesale supplier to my FFL. It appeared that the barrel had gone through the box at some point and obviously hit something hard enough to leave a gouge down to bare metal. I also noticed that the stock finish was definitely subpar. I am used to Walnut Ruger’s not having much figure but this one had a terrible stain and finish job. Almost orange where the stain took, but washed out in other areas. To add insult to the poor finish there were visible runs in several places. It actually looked more like Birch than Walnut to me. I knew the rifle had to go back to have the muzzle fixed but thought I was stuck with a stock that I would end up refinishing on my own.

I received a call the other day from my FFL saying that my Hawkeye was back from Ruger. I picked it up today and found the muzzle ding….which I do not think was even Rugers fault was fixed to the point I could not tell it ever happened. That of course made me happy, but I was overjoyed when I saw that my bland and horribly finished stock had either been replaced or refinished. Whichever they did I am very pleased with the result. I have to commend Rugers service department for a job well done. I think they went above the call of what I would consider their responsibility and gave me a rifle that I will cherish for a lifetime. It these days of crappy customer service I am happy to see that Ruger as an American company still makes their products in the USA, and more importantly still stands behind what they make. A job well done. My thanks to them.

I was putting the box away and found a receipt inside stating what was done. They fixed the muzzle crown. Reblued the barreled action. And actually replaced the stock. Can't wait to shoot it Glad the weather is nicer

Re: Ruger Customer Service

I have dealt with rugers cs on three different occasions, and every time they took care of the issue with no questions asked, and no cost of anykind out of my pocket.

To give you an idea of how good they really are- i won a 77/17 blued barrel and boat paddle stock about 8 or so years ago, i used it hard for prbly 5 years, many many rounds through it, it started cracking cases on me.

I sent it back to ruger, at that time they had discontinued production of these particular style rifles, they confirmed that the chamber had somekind of problem but they had an outside company mfg the barrels for this rifle at the time of production and they could no linger get a replacement barrel with the same finish or the same length.

I recieved a call from them telling me to get on their website and choose ANY style rifle in ANY caliber and they would send it to me as a replacement free of any charge to me! I chose the hawkeye stainless and synthetic chambered in .204. I recieved it within the week. Not bad considdering i had 10 dollars in the origional .17 rifle, and used it hard for a number of years. Great customer service in my book!!

Re: Ruger Customer Service

I agree with Ruger's excellent customer service. I purchased a 10/22 bull barrel and mounted a scope on it. While mounting the base I stripped out two holes in the aluminium receiver. They sent me a brand new 10/22 which I had to pick it up at my LGS. Doc in Pa.

Re: Ruger Customer Service

Bought a Ruger Redhawk used years ago. Had issues with it and sent it back, advising them that it was purchased used and and provided them with my credit card. All was repaired at no charge to me. Excellent service with Ruger.

Re: Ruger Customer Service

I bought a Number One .375 from an HPA member. The gun had salt wood and was in rough shape. It had been presented by Bill Ruger to one of the engineers involved with the design of the Number One. His name appears in the Ruger archives. The rifle had a three digit SN and is possibly the first .375 Number One (1966) made by Ruger.

I contacted Ruger, told them about the rifle and its SN. The lady put me on hold as she could not grasp the low SN. When she returned she told me to send it in.

Long story short. Ruger replaced all the action innards to preserve the SN, restocked it, even installing a red butt pad at my request instead of the later black pads which necessitated them refinishing the wood because pads are affixed before the stock is shaped...NO CHARGE and back in my hands two weeks to the day from when I sent it to them.

Try getting that kind of service from any other manufacturer...

EDIT: Should note the replacement wood is highly figured Circassian walnut.
