CMP Ammo

Three years ago, our sportsmen's club became a member of the Civilian Marksmanship Program or CMP. We thought it would be a good organization to promote the shooting sports and gun safety. One of the perks of being a member is the ability to buy certain types of ammo in bulk. Two years ago, with the very limited availability of .22 LR ammo, we decided to buy a case from the CMP. They told us to send a check and would send us the ammo as soon as it was available. The Check totaling $370.00 was sent on the 30th of July 2013. I just received an email from them yesterday stating the ammo was now available but due to a price increase we owed them another $42.00 for a case Aquila .22 LR's. I think this is total [censored]! They held onto our money for nearly two years and now they want $42.00 more!

What do you guys think of this?

Re: CMP Ammo

How much are you paying per round? If their price is still better than what you can get it anywhere else then yes I would send the 42$.

As for sending somebody 370.00 and letting them hold onto it for 2 years is a different story. I probably would have called them for a refund over a year ago.

Re: CMP Ammo

I agree, just another chance to gouge the price of ammo. I don't know if it would help to contact the Better Business Burea but it would be worth a try.

Just last week they were selling a case of CCI standard velocity .22LR's for $340.00 a case at a certain Clearfield County gun shop.

They weren't very informative on what type of Aquila ammo this was, high velocity, standard, etc. The whole point of getting the ammo to begin with was because it was hard to get and we thought we would keep some handy for our .22 league. Now that it's more readily available, we could probably put that towards our gun give-away this year.
