My uncle had the same gun but a little older. I have it now and yes it shoots as good as any bolt and better that many custom guns.

I got mine in 1962, NIB $126.00 and the guy who owned the hardware store included a box of 150 gr shells in the deal.

Re: The Old Boy Still Shoots

Bought my 760 in 1972 for $129 so it only went up $3 in 10 years LOL! I originally wanted a 270 in the pump but the store didn't have one in a left hand so I bought the 06 in left hand Cheek piece is on the right side for us lefties with a left hand safe though it ejects on the right side

Re: The Old Boy Still Shoots

One of my Sons is left handed, he has 2 that are factory lefty's {both 06's) and a Kool Blue 7600 in 25-06 that we converted the safe button to a lefty. His twin brother has a 760 that has the corn cob forearm in 270.

They have all been very good rifles that have filled a lot of tags.

I could have bought a bunch of 760s back in the day for what he paid for the Kool Blue in 25-06

Re: The Old Boy Still Shoots

I would put any of my 760's up against almost any factory bolt action at 100 yards.

Re: The Old Boy Still Shoots

Bought my first one in 1971, $119 and have hunted with it every year since. I have several in 30-06, all topped with a 3x9 Redfield widefield. I have always shot the Corelokt 180 gr sp. I remember back in the 1970's we were driving deer, had 21 guys in the group and 18 of them were carrying 760's.
