Barrel question

Does a weatherby rifle barrel have the same threads as what a Remington barrel does? In short will a weatherby barrel work on a remington rifle?

Life is like a coin, you can spend it anywhere you like, but you can only spend it once.

Re: Barrel question

If you talking a MkV and 700 action-barrel threads both are 1.062x16. Are they a direct swap without fitting-machining? No.

Re: Barrel question

Threads may be the same but barrel still needs to be headspaced. Machining is required.

Not only that, they have different threaded tenon lengths, the Rem uses a extended bolt nose( three ring of steel thingy) which means facing off the tenon,re-cuting the shoulder, re-chamberng, the WBY barrel shank is larger, 1.3" vs 1.2" and a few other minor dimensions I can't recall at the moment.

Other than that....it will fit!

Re: Barrel question

BASED on WILLBILL's comments the only thing they share is that a bullet goes somewhere close to the middle of both of them!! Other than that NOTHING!! Don't forget about the boltface and the lugs locking in the rear of the barrel..TOTALLY DIFFERENT to say the least...

+1

Id buy a custom barrel and have all the fitting done. You will be better off in the long run.

No,the lugs on both are on the bolts and the abutments in the receiver, the Remington having 2 lugs, the WBY 2 or 3 locking lugs and 7 or 8 safety lugs!

You might be thinking of the 710/770. The lugs are still on the bolt, but the abutments are in the barrel.
