savage axis .308

I have a chance to trade a Marlin ss383 .22 mag for a Savage Axis .308. Are the Axis any good? Any thoughts on the rifle? Thanks.

I bought my daughter an Axis youth 7mm08 and it drives tacks! Trigger is a little stiff.

I have a Savage Axis in 243 and love it, like what was said above the trigger pull is a little hard but it can be fixed.

Re: savage axis .308

Well I'll b... I just bought an Axis in .308 and it can b a tack driver . One thing I noticed and some other people have, is the trigger pull on these models is not that great. Savage makes a lighter replacement spring for them.( which I plan to get). I think it would be a good trade on your part. Good luck

Re: savage axis .308

Simple solution is to replace the trigger spring with one from a retractable ball point pen. The worst part of the job is cleaning out the glue the factory used to hold the original spring.
