Barrell Bore Snake Cleaner Questions

I was going to buy one for my .30.06 but I'm hesitant, being that I've only cleaned my guns with the conventional cleaning kits with rods.

Do you put oil and bore cleaner on the snake?

If not, how do you apply bore cleaner and oil or is it not necessary with the snake?

Re: Barrell Bore Snake Cleaner Questions

I haven't used one on my rifles, but I use one on my shotguns, I don't use it as a cleaning item where you put the gun away after using the snake, I still use the conventional rods and such for that, what I use it for is to keep the bore clean between pheasant hunts, and when im testing sabot slugs out of my 870, I get better accuracy that way. I plan on getting one for my .280 so I can keep the bore clean when im testing reloads to see if it improves my groups or not.
