Plastic tipped ammo

I see a lot of ballistic tips being used for deer hunting, has there ever been a study as to how much plastic gets left in a deer or bear?

Re: Plastic tipped ammo

I have found the green tip off my Nosler Ballistic tips before. I would worry about ingesting lead not plastic.

Hunt with your kids not for them.

Re: Plastic tipped ammo

Even if the polymer tip was in the meat it should pass through the 'ol digestive tract without leaving a trace.

Re: Plastic tipped ammo

100 or more grains of copper and lead in bullets that we don't sweat, I don't think the polymer tip is anything to worry about.

QDM published a study a while ago where a guy ate venison multiple times per day for a year. He had the levels of lead in his blood measured before and after. If I remember right, they stayed level or dipped slightly. So....nothing to fret about, really.
