marlin 25m 22 mag problem

while trying to chamber a round the cartridge moves to the far left of the chamber. seems to pick up fine from the magazine. any idea's? just traded for this gun and feel down

New to you gun.Take it apart,clean it,lubricate it and reassemble it.Load it and attempt to cycle a round quickly like when hunting without looking for something bad.You may be cycling it too slow if you are watching the cycle of the loading process or it may be dirty.

I did spray the bolt out with gunscrubber and cleaned the bore with hoppes. will try again and use some Rem oil. Thanks Art

Sometimes the problem may be with the clip or detachable magazine. Even though the cartridge seems to exit the clip properly, a little damage could swing the back of the cartridge in one direction causing the front to move in the opposite direction and cause an alignment issue when chambering.
